The Who? the Greatest Band Ever? You Better, You Bet!
I remember the first time I heard “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, 1980. Keith Moon had been dead for two years but I didn’t know. I had no idea who Keith Moon was. No idea who the band was that sang this classic rock anthem. In 1980, I was just old enough to appreciate rock, classic rock. I was tired of The Bay City Rollers (give me a break, I was a kid). It was time to graduate; not in a cognisant way but in a magically natural moment that grips you, no matter what age you are. All of us experience these feelings of amazement and wonderment to something new… and never forget that moment and time. Music is that powerful. More powerful than any book or movie, music can touch your soul, stop you in your tracks with its sound and lyrics and bring back memories that, once forgotten, can touch a persons heart with joy or sadness. This is what music does to us… and more than any musician(s), The Who affect and reach me like no other band.
The Seven Greatest Bands of the 1960s

(#1) The Beatles – Surprising pick, right? Sometimes conventional wisdom is on target. Yes, The Beatles really are the greatest band of all time (and thus, obviously, the best band of the 1960s.) Considering they recorded their final album, Abbey Road, in 1969 they are really a “purely 60s” band (unlike most on this list which went on to record more music into the 70s (and in some cases beyond.)
100 greatest guitarists of all time Carlos Santana
When we think of all the great guitarists throughout time, many names come to mind – Carlos Santana is one of them. In August 2003, Santana was named fifteenth on Rolling Stone magazine’s “List of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. And rightly so. This Mexican-born American guitarist has toured and recorded successfully since the late ’60s. In the 90s he was rediscovered by a new generation with his album Supernatural, which involved well-known artists such as Rob Thomas and Eric Clapton.
